We're here to help create a more sustainable future by improving the energy performance of existing homes.

Featured Topic: Picking the Low Hanging Fruit of Energy Retrofits
Sometimes the best approach to upgrading the energy efficiency of the home isn't from the ground up, but rather from the top down. Attics have been the focus of weatherization rebate programs and tax incentives for decades, but the common practice of piling on more insulation provides only marginal returns on your investment. For insulation to perform optimally, air-sealing must be part of the retrofit or weatherization project. A combination of air-sealing and insulation in the attic can reduce overall air leakage by up to 40 percent and drop a home's space-conditioning costs by 20 to 40 percent. If you are looking for energy savings, why not start with the low-hanging fruit?........LEARN MORE >

Why? How? What?
Our nation's homes use more than 20 percent of energy produced and account for about as much greenhouse gas emission.

There are more than 100 million existing homes in the United States, many of which are in dire need of significant improvements.

Between 1978 and 2005, energy use per household dropped by more than 30 percent.

That's good, but it's not good enough. The United States consumes more energy than any other country in the world. Changing our homes is the first step in a brighter energy future.
By improving the tools and resources available to professionals and consumers so that they can retrofit houses to improve energy performance.
